# Day 4/100 of DevOps

### Task: Your task is to grant executable permissions to the /tmp/[xfusioncorp.sh](http://xfusioncorp.sh) script on App Server. Additionally, ensure that all users have the capability to execute it.

1. **Connect to App Server**

    `ssh banner@172.16.238.12`

2. Switch to root user

    `sudo su -`

3. Verify the current permission the file (xfusioncorp.sh) has

    `ls -l /tmp/xfusioncorp.sh`

4. Grant executable permission to all users

    `chmod a+rx /tmp/xfusioncorp.sh`

    * `a` → applies to **all users** (owner, group, and others)

    * `+rx` → adds the **read &** **execute** permission

    **Note: It is necessary to give both read and execute permission, though its mentioned only execute permission for users.** Because let’s say, someone has created a script and has given your user permission ONLY to execute it. Do you think it would be wise to run the script, without being able to READ the file in the first place.

5. Verify the permission change

    `ls -l /tmp/xfusioncorp.sh`

**Note: The presence of the ‘x’ indicates that the file is now executable by all users.**
